Our mug cosy would make a great gift for a tea-loving friend!

Cross Stitcher - - The Savvy Stitcher -

PRINT off the template onto white paper. Place on your stitching. Hold up to a light source, and then pin the template to the stitching with the design in the centre. Cut out, adding a 1cm (⅜in) seam allowance. Repeat for the backing fabric.

Step 2

PIN the stitching and backing fabric together, and then insert an elastic hair bobble into the seam at one short end of the mug cosy – do not cut the bobble as it will lose strength, just position it halfway through the seam.

STITCH around the edge of the cosy, with the 1cm (⅜in) seam allowance, leaving a gap at one short end, opposite the bobble. Clip the curves and corners and reduce the seam allowance, and then turn through to the right side. Sew up the gap.

Step 4

PLACE the cosy around your mug, and then using a pin, mark the position of the button to correspond with the bobble closer. Sew the button in position on the edge of the cosy. Your cosy is now ready to use!
