Antarctic dreaming

Cruise Passenger - - PUBLISHER’S LETTER - Msccruises.com.au

The Antarctic Peninsula is more accessible than ever with cruise-in, fly-out itineraries.

■ MSC Cruises has announced a bold plan to produce ships that will rival operators such as Royal Caribbean. The new World Class ships will carry up to 6,850 guests, the highest passenger capacity in the global cruise fleet, and will be equipped with a new generation of LNG-powered engines as well as a new waste-water treatment system. Two ships will be delivered in 2022 and 2024, with an option for two more. A futuristic Y-shaped structure will enable panoramic sea views and increase the proportion of balcony cabins, while a new bow has been designed to improve stability.
