Celebrating our cruise travel experts
The 17th annual Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Awards in February celebrated the hardworking and passionate travel agents who sell cruise to Australian and New Zealand holidaymakers. CLIA Award winners were announced in 20 categories.
Special mention to Bicton Travel which won Cruise Agency of the Year Australia for the Þfth year in a row (and seventh time), Kathy Pavlidis of Cruiseabout Kew who won Cruise Consultant of the Year Australia, and Clean Cruising which took out both Online Agency of the Year Australia and Agency Promotion of the Year Australia. Sarah Fenton of MTA Travel was awarded Home Based Agent of the Year Australia and Kye Duffy of Our Vacation Centre was recognised as Rising Star of the Year.
These winners sit within CLIA’s top ranks of accredited travel agents who specialise in helping both Þrst-time and veteran cruise travellers Þnd the best cruise for their travel style and budget. A great agent can also help Þnd unexpected activities and destinations to create a once-in-a-lifetime cruise experience.
CLIA agents become accredited through CLIA’s Learning Academy and take courses through different cruise lines to elevate their expertise in cruise holidays. They visit ships regularly and work with a variety of lines so they can answer questions regarding differences in cruise ships or destinations, and offer advice on everything from travel insurance to oboard dining times.
In many cases, CLIA travel agents have access to promotions that may not be available to consumers booking directly.
