We take a look at which teams will be lining up in Edinburgh…
Words Paul Robson Illustrations Rob Moxon This year there will be 20 teams taking part in the Tour of Britain, and an impressive 10 of them will be from the UCI WorldTour: from stalwarts such as Team Sky, Quick-Step Floors and Cannondale-Drapac, to the lesser-spotted Lotto-Soudal and Orica-Scott. Between them, they are guaranteed to bring some of the biggest names in cycling to our shores, particularly as riders look to build form ahead of the world championships in Norway.
Elsewhere we have three of the most aggressive Pro Continental teams in Belgium’s Wanty-Groupe Goubert, Italy’s Bardiani-CSF and Poland’s CCC Sprandi Polkowice, who will be looking to animate every stage in the hunt for victories and crucial UCI points.
On the home front, four of the six Continental entries are big domestic teams who will have the chance to rub shoulders with their more illustrious brethren for a week, and will be determined to upset the apple cart, along with a Great Britain national team that will be packed with the next generation of homegrown talent.
