FROM THE EDITOR...
2017 has been a big year for cycling anniversaries. Most importantly August saw me celebrate 10 years in the saddle of Britain’s best selling cycling magazine… Okay, far more significantly, for starters, is the fact that this esteemed organ itself celebrated its 25th birthday at the start of the year – what do you mean you missed our anniversary issue? And then there’s the 200th anniversary of the dandy horse! Invented in 1817 by Baron Karl von Drais the Laufsmaschine was arguably the first ever bicycle, so without it there probably wouldn’t be a Cycling Plus. Turn to p128 to see how deputy editor Paul got on when he took a replica of von Drais’ creation for a spin. It’s probably fair to say he won’t be swapping his Look
for what is, essentially, a wooden balance bike anytime soon! Don’t forget that if you’ve anything you want to say you can chat with us via @cyclingplus on Twitter, CyclingPlusMagazine on Facebook and cyclingplus on Instagram. And, of course, you can always email us at cyclingplus@immediate.co.uk. It’s good to talk!
