Chris Froome is officially the best British road cyclist ever. Well, he is if an online poll we ran following his historic Vuelta a España win counts as ‘official’. An overwhelming 72 per cent of respondents voted for Froomey – Mark Cavendish was second with just seven per cent, with Sir Bradley Wiggins and Beryl Burton level on five. (If you haven’t voted the poll is here: It’s probably fair to say that his quiet demeanour and - let’s be honest - Kenyan roots have made it harder for Froome to gain the affection of British cycling fans. If our poll result is a true reflection of public opinion, though, then Chris’s incredible 2017 Grand Tour double, added to his three previous Tour de France wins, means he’s

now getting the recognition he truly deserves.
