Panaracer’s tubeless all-rounder is heavy on the bike and the wallet. The thicker sealed carcass theoretically makes the RAE 3 a fully tubeless, rather than tubeless-ready, tyre. It wouldn’t pop into place without some sealant and a proper compressor. Resultant ride feel is damped rather than floaty and responsive. While the rough dual-compound ZSG rubber is naturally grippy the pointed ‘All Contact’ tread shape tips suddenly and crudely into corners rather than rolling in subtly. Its tough AX-Alpha cord and ProTite shield construction means it lasts long enough to get used to and provide some mitigation for the high price.
