Rifle exploded in man’s face
A MAN was taken to hospital after a rifle exploded in his face in the Isaac region on Friday night.
Paramedics were called to a private property off the Bruce Highway about 40-50km south of St Lawrence at 6.13pm, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said.
They treated a 64-year-old man who had suffered a fractured eye socket after the rifle blew up during use.
The man was taken to Rockhampton Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
A spokeswoman for Rockhampton Hospital said on Saturday the man had been transferred to Brisbane for further care, in a stable condition.
Earlier this year, a 17-year-old girl was injured in an accident involving a firearm at Devereux Creek.
The July 8 incident, in which a gun was accidentally fired, resulted in the girl being taken to hospital with injuries to her hand and leg.
