Personalised tour wins gold
Tourism showcased in major award night
RAINFOREST Scuba owner Luana Royle was very surprised to pick up quite so many awards at the Mackay Tourism Awards night, but it was the gold in tour and transport category that had her most excited.
Ms Royle has recently started a Personalised Private Platypus Tour which picked up the gong.
“I have found a small hole in the market,” she said.
The tours are designed to deliver a personal experience for the visitor.
“If they want to do walking then I design a tour that includes a lot of walking,” she said.
“If they want to see the Sarina Sugar Shed then I include it in the tour.”
The idea came from her own experience from travel.
“I hate those big tour groups, where they are just constantly herding you on and off the bus,” she said.
The Personalised Private Platypus Tour is designed for up to six visitors at any time.
Rainforest Scuba has been in business since 2012.
This is the third year that the scuba tour has won gold in the Adventure Tourism and Ecotourism categories.
Ms Royle received silver for the Tourist Attraction category behind the Sarina Sugar Shed, after taking out bronze in that division last year.
