THE Daily Mercury editorial on Saturday (”Now to see how pollies vote on same-sex”, 08/10/17) asks how I will gauge the vote of my constituents on changing the definition of marriage. The answer is simple. I am advised the ABS will be breaking down the results by electorate.
I - and many others - have grave concerns about the consequences of changing the definition of marriage, particularly in schools where school children are already subject to radical gender ideology including claims that boys can choose to be girls and vice versa...
If, despite these grave concerns, the people of Dawson vote to change the definition of marriage, as their representative I will put aside my personal view and I will not vote against their wishes.
I again encourage everyone to have their say on changing the definition of marriage so that the matter is finalised once and for all and we can move on to more pressing issues such as the rising cost of electricity in this country. — George Christensen MP Federal Member for Dawson *abridged
