25 YEARS OF CHAR­ITY: Mark McGrath, Vic Vas­sallo, Her­mina Vick­ers and Eve­lyn Vas­sallo at the an­nual Flagon and Dragon event, which was started a quar­ter of a cen­tury ago. So far it has raised more than $1. 6 mil­lion for lo­cal kids. The fundrais­ing tar­get set for yes­ter­day’s event was $250,000.

The in­vi­ta­tion-only event, held at Wind­mill Func­tions Cen­tre at Mt Pleas­ant, drew more than 220 peo­ple along with star per­former Graeme Con­nors.

The event, which was started a quar­ter of a cen­tury ago, has so far raised over

$1.6 mil­lion, Flagon and Dragon in-com­ing chair­woman Kelly Cac­ci­ola said.

Most of the money raised goes to chil­dren at Mackay hos­pi­tals, but also to any other or­gan­i­sa­tions in Mackay that look af­ter sick or dis­abled chil­dren.

The fundrais­ing tar­get set for yes­ter­day’s event was $250,000.

Most peo­ple came in cos­tume as more than 220 gath­ered in Mackay to raise funds at the 25th Flagon and Dragon event on Fri­day.

Cos­tumes were the or­der of the day for Suzanne Brown and Glenn By­ron at the 25th an­niver­sary fundraiser.
