Shopping trip boosts Airlie, Proserpine businesses
THE past seven months have been a challenge for businesses in Proserpine and Airlie Beach, who have both endured setbacks since Cyclone Debbie made landfall earlier in the year.
Though with true Queensland spirit, businesses have battled through and have slowly reopened their doors.
Helloworld Travel Mackay and Mt Pleasant has offered an Airlie Beach Shopping Day Trip over the last four years that coincides with preparations for Christmas.
Kelly Portelli from Helloworld Travel Mackay said: “When I learnt of the destruction Cyclone Debbie had on the local community I just wanted to do something”.
“At the time we had to cancel a couple of trips up to Proserpine & Airlie Beach as businesses were just not ready,” she said. “But now I am happy to report most are back up and running and once again we can offer the ultimate Whitsunday shopping experience and make these shops shine within the community by making locals aware they are open for business.”
The shopping day trip will depart Mackay this Saturday. For more info call Helloworld Travel Mackay on 4969 3600 or Mt Pleasant 4942 1444.
