Keen to rip in

FILLING the void left in the halves by former Cutter and new Canberra Raider Cooper Bambling will be no easy task, but new five-eighth Jack Hickson is confident he’s come to the right place.

Hickson, who came through the Canberra Raiders system himself, caught Cutters coach Steve Sheppard’s eye while playing a trial for his club side the Woden Valley Rams against Scotland in the lead-up to this year’s World Cup.

“I pride myself on my running and attacking game, and over the last 12 months I’ve worked on my kicking. So things he (Sheppard) identified in me, were things I saw as my strengths, so being on the same page is good,” Hickson said.

Ready to get stuck in, Hickson said he was looking forward to forming a formidable combination with fellow half, Nicho Hynes, over pre-season.

“I set myself a goal to have a crack at Queensland Cup, so when the opportunity came from the Cutters, I was keen to grab it and test myself in a quality competition,” he said.

“The depth here is exciting, so I’m keen to rip in.”
