Rapes, assault linked to Sarina
A MT PLEASANT man has been accused of rape and sexual assault in Sarina. The
31-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, faced Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday via videolink from prison. He’s been charged with three counts of rape and one of sexual assault on September
19, 2017 at Sarina. The man is also charged with two counts of drug possession, and one each of possessing drug utensils and failing to appear for court. In the court, Prosecutor Sergeant Sabine Scott and defence solicitor Antoinette Morton, of Fisher Dore Lawyers, spoke of the need to obtain information from Facebook and dating website Plenty of Fish. Magistrate Damien Dwyer suggested there may be an extended wait to retrieve the necessary information, which could be required for a potential bail application. The case was adjourned to June 20. Queensland Police were contacted for additional information about the charges, but declined to comment due to the sensitive nature of the allegations.
