Rapes, as­sault linked to Sa­rina

A MT PLEAS­ANT man has been ac­cused of rape and sex­ual as­sault in Sa­rina. The

31-year-old, who can’t be named for le­gal rea­sons, faced Mackay Mag­is­trates Court yes­ter­day via vide­olink from prison. He’s been charged with three counts of rape and one of sex­ual as­sault on Septem­ber

19, 2017 at Sa­rina. The man is also charged with two counts of drug pos­ses­sion, and one each of pos­sess­ing drug uten­sils and fail­ing to ap­pear for court. In the court, Prose­cu­tor Sergeant Sabine Scott and de­fence so­lic­i­tor An­toinette Morton, of Fisher Dore Lawyers, spoke of the need to ob­tain in­for­ma­tion from Face­book and dat­ing web­site Plenty of Fish. Mag­is­trate Damien Dwyer sug­gested there may be an ex­tended wait to re­trieve the nec­es­sary in­for­ma­tion, which could be re­quired for a po­ten­tial bail ap­pli­ca­tion. The case was ad­journed to June 20. Queens­land Po­lice were con­tacted for ad­di­tional in­for­ma­tion about the charges, but de­clined to com­ment due to the sen­si­tive na­ture of the al­le­ga­tions.
