Daily Mercury - - YOUR SAY -

ABOUT the rental market, bunch of power-crazed real estate agents looking down their pointy noses at the poor tenant. Expecting the tenant to kiss their oversized behinds.

Can anyone tell me? why when watching a salvage show on TV (Aussie Salvage) they caught female mudcrabs and showed them cooking the same. Is that not illegal in Queensland?

Watching The Chase Australia last night and apart from having to put up with the host guffawing and trying to speak any language except English, one question cost the contestant $1000. The question was ‘how many states border WA’. The contestant said one and was deemed wrong. Whoever sets the questions and answers should know the Northern Territory is not a state.

Re: Jodie Zammit’s letter about Mark Knight’s cartoon sketch (of Serena Williams). I applaud you. I think you said what a lot of people were thinking.

Well done to former Mackay Cutters captain and current Townsville Blackhawk’s player Andrew Davey for securing an NRL contract with Parramatta, following on from Blackhawk’s player Reece Martin. It shows there is a pathway there for players young and old. Hopefully a Cutters player will do the same before too long.

Re: RD, Mackay (Daily Mercury, 15/09/18). I know languages do change but in my home, plus my son’s home, we make children always call them by the right Aussie way. They say patty cakes. After all this is Australia, not America.

I have a granddaughter who is studying to become a nurse, who has given up a lot to do so with no help from the government. You would think they would get behind people who want to do so. If you are on the dole you get better looked after. I just wish they would help in some way, until the students have time to work, then this help would finish. I know my granddaughter would love to earn her own money and pay her own way but with all the study she has to this is impossible.

RE: DW Grasstree beach (Daily Mercury, 15/09/18). Some people who work with the public in any sector can be drama queens. They do not know how to deal with people and enjoy inciting situations. The job is about that pay packet a lot of times. I hate it too. Especially being treated condescendingly when owners or bosses aren’t around. AZ, Mackay
