Bu­ca­sia man fails to ap­pear on 16 charges

A WAR­RANT is due to be is­sued for the ar­rest of a Bu­ca­sia man fac­ing more than 15 charges af­ter he failed to show up for court.

Craig James Buck­ton’s case was men­tioned in Mackay Mag­is­trates Court on Fri­day.

Buck­ton, 33, was due to ap­pear in the court along­side solic­i­tor, Aaron Sel­lentin, of Bar­ron & Allen Lawyers.

How­ever, Buck­ton was nowhere to be seen, de­spite Mr Sel­lentin’s ef­forts to lo­cate him and an­nounce­ments made over the PA sys­tem.

Buck­ton has been charged with bur­glary, re­ceiv­ing tainted prop­erty, two counts of un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of sus­pected stolen prop­erty, and one count each of pos­sess­ing a knife in a pub­lic place, fail­ing to stop a ve­hi­cle for po­lice, fail­ing to stop at a stop line, driv­ing with­out a li­cense dis­qual­i­fied by court or­der, breach­ing bail and pos­sess­ing or ac­quir­ing a re­stricted item.

Ad­di­tion­ally, Buck­ton’s ac­cused of four counts of pos­sess­ing drugs and one count each of un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of con­trolled drugs and pos­sess­ing drug uten­sils or pipes.

Mag­is­trate Damien Dwyer said a war­rant will lie on file, be­fore be­ing acted on if need be next week.
