Spring carnival fun heads to the Isaac region as Moranbah hosts its race day

Daily Mercury - - PEOPLE -

A BUMPER crowd is expected to show up today as spring racing fever hits Moranbah.

The gates at Treasure Park will swing open for what is one of the biggest days on the local racing calendar, the Moranbah Race Club Spring Carnival, and it’s shaping up to welcome its largest crowd to date.

The family-friendly day will include local races, fashions on the field and the entertaining ‘men’s undies race’ along with a jumping castle for the kids and live music by Out Of Our Trio.

The feature event of the race program will be the $10,000 Isaac Regional Council Class B Cup handicap over 1400 metres.

Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac Regional Council is proud to be the major sponsor as part of a three-year funding agreement through the Isaac Community Grants program.

“Race days are a great opportunity for residents to glam up a little, meet with friends or neighbours and have some fun cheering on the horses and jockeys,” Mayor Baker said.

Treasure Park gates open at 11am and tickets are $15. Buses run frequently throughout the day between the Moranbah Community Workers Club and Treasure Park.
