Ready for Melon Fest Parade

Dalby Herald - - NEWS -

EVER wanted to step back in time? Or travel to the future? Or maybe you’re keen on promoting your business, school, community group, charity.

Or you just want to get a group of people together to have some old-fashioned fun?

The famous Melon Fest Street Parade might be just the ticket.

Choose a time from world or Aussie history (or imagine a time in the future), whack in a few melon references and away you go.

The Chinchilla Melon Festival Committee will be flicking the switch on the 2017 Melon Fest Parade – The Great Big Pink Black and Green Melon Time Machine – on the morning of Saturday, February 18.

Entries close the day before at noon on Friday, February 17, so there’s still plenty of time to think of a theme, decorate your float and get your entry forms into the Melon Shop – Melon Fest HQ (the old Lavender Patchwork Shop in Chinchilla Central).

Entry forms are available in this week’s Chinchilla News or email chinchillamelonfestival @gmail.com.

Alternatively people can drop to the Chinchilla customer Service Centre.

The Melon Shop opens on February 6 2017 and will be open for two weeks before the festival.

The Melon Fest Parade is marshalled in Railway St, with the parade starting at 10.30am on February 18.

The parade will finish at the intersection of Heeney and Hypatia Sts.
