STRETCHING the dol­lar fur­ther has never been harder, our read­ers are telling us.

The cost of liv­ing and the con­di­tion of the Bruce High­way are key con­cerns for the ma­jor­ity of read­ers tak­ing part in our spe­cial on­line elec­tion sur­vey.

Seventy-five per­cent of read­ers who have com­pleted Queens­land votes: Have your say are strug­gling to make ends meet, with 48% say­ing it’s the tough­est it’s ever been to pay the bills.

The Bruce High­way is also top of read­ers’ wish lists for gov­ern­ment ac­tion, with 70% say­ing the state should be play­ing a big­ger role in im­prov­ing the high­way.

Other con­cerns are the state’s jails, with 65% be­liev­ing the cur­rent prison sys­tem is not work­ing well.

Time is run­ning out to ex­press your views on the is­sues which af­fect you and your com­mu­nity.
