Swans soar in epic GF
AUSSIE RULES: The Dalby Swans have broken their 22-year premiership drought after a sensational comefrom-behind win against the Warwick Redbacks on Saturday.
The Redbacks managed to get the jump on the Swans early in the game, capitalising on their entrances into the forward 50.
Trailing by 10 points at halftime, the Swans came out and blew the Redbacks off the park in the final two quarters to win 8.12.60 to 6.6.42.
Swans captain and Best on Ground Brandon Peltz said winning the competition was a fairytale finish to 2017.
“It’s the perfect way for us to end what has been a long season,” Peltz said.
“It’s a great bunch of blokes we have at the club so it makes winning the flag even sweeter.”
Peltz said all 22 players contributed to the victory, knowing they had to be at their best to knock off the Redbacks.
“We knew we had it in us to beat them because we got the better of them the first time we played this year.
“It was a whole team effort and everyone gave it their all.”
Swans small forward Jack Rockliff starred up front for the side, booting three goals in the win.
Ruckman Liam Rathman and centre-half back Mike Gaur were also inspirational through the middle of the field, constantly shutting down the Redbacks attack.
The Swans will now join the Wheatmen and the Diehards in the ticker tape parade on Thursday.
