MOTORSPORT: More than 400 riders from across the region converged on Jandowae for its annual trail bike ride at the weekend which was hailed a success.

The weather only helped to strengthen the event’s turn-out, as competitors flocked in to soak up the sunshine and excitement of the trail bike courses.

Participants ranged from beginners to experienced riders, with the all-inclusive event offering a great environment for anyone wanting to try their hand at the sport.

Jandowae Trail Bike Ride president Darren Marshall said the event exceeded expectations, as more than 400 people turned out for the two-day event.

“The weekend was very successful,” Marshall said.

“We had roughly 350 people attend last year, so to see a considerable increase in numbers is really encouraging.”

He put down the growth in attendance to extremely accommodating stakeholders and a greater enthusiasm for the event from the community.

“Firstly I would like to thank the stakeholders,” he said.

“I would also like to thank everyone that attended the event, as they were extremely well behaved.”

The success of the event was attributed to well kept camping facilities

as well as the top-class courses that were on offer.
