Giddy-up! It’s time for the NRL Grand Final

AS A journalist, my profession requires me to uphold objectivity at all times.

However today I am going to make an exception.

Having been born and bred in Cairns myself, watching the North Queensland Cowboys do the seemingly impossible and make this year’s NRL Grand Final has been nothing short of amazing.

After losing co-captains Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott to injuries, the majority of NRL pundits had all but written the Cowboys off.

Despite their doubters, they limped into the finals and once there, they managed to stave off their expected early demise through gritty and determined wins over very credible opposition; culminating in a clash with minor premiers the Melbourne Storm in the big dance.

In what is a David v Goliath clash, if the Cowboys can reign victorious given their circumstances this season, I believe it will be the greatest premiership win in NRL history.

I predict the North Queensland Cowboys will win 16-14 in a hard-fought affair.
