Round two in doubt due to rain
CRICKET: After the wash-out of the opening round of the Dalby Cricket Association season, round two is hoped to provide the first ball of the new season.
This weekend Colts will play Centrals, and Sportsfirst will face Kings.
There is a chance of rain tomorrow, which threatens to again delay the start of the season.
Round one of the Central Downs Cricket Association was able to get under way last weekend.
The rain stayed clear for all teams to have their opening round matches.
Bowenville faced Pittsworth in the opening fixture at home.
The visitors batted first and piled on 253 runs all out with just a handful of balls left in their innings.
Pittsworth batsman Jordan O’Shea had a brilliant innings, scoring 113 to set up a tough total.
In reply Bowenville looked competitive, with a score of 117 for the loss of one wicket.
However their last nine wickets fell for just 95 runs to be all out for 212.
Jordan O’Shea continued his man-of-the-match performance, picking up three for 20 off five overs.
David Connolly was the highest run-scorer for Bowenville with 75.
In other matches, Southbrook defeated Downlands, Nobby accounted for Oakey and Millmerran got the better of Kulpi. This week’s fixtures have Bowenville at home to Nobby, Pittsworth host Millmerran, Downlands host Oakey, and Kulpi at home to Southbrook.
