Round two in doubt due to rain

CRICKET: After the wash-out of the open­ing round of the Dalby Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion sea­son, round two is hoped to pro­vide the first ball of the new sea­son.

This week­end Colts will play Cen­trals, and Sports­first will face Kings.

There is a chance of rain to­mor­row, which threat­ens to again de­lay the start of the sea­son.

Round one of the Cen­tral Downs Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion was able to get un­der way last week­end.

The rain stayed clear for all teams to have their open­ing round matches.

Bowenville faced Pittsworth in the open­ing fix­ture at home.

The vis­i­tors bat­ted first and piled on 253 runs all out with just a hand­ful of balls left in their in­nings.

Pittsworth bats­man Jor­dan O’Shea had a bril­liant in­nings, scor­ing 113 to set up a tough to­tal.

In re­ply Bowenville looked com­pet­i­tive, with a score of 117 for the loss of one wicket.

How­ever their last nine wick­ets fell for just 95 runs to be all out for 212.

Jor­dan O’Shea con­tin­ued his man-of-the-match per­for­mance, pick­ing up three for 20 off five overs.

David Con­nolly was the high­est run-scorer for Bowenville with 75.

In other matches, South­brook de­feated Down­lands, Nobby ac­counted for Oakey and Millmer­ran got the bet­ter of Kulpi. This week’s fix­tures have Bowenville at home to Nobby, Pittsworth host Millmer­ran, Down­lands host Oakey, and Kulpi at home to South­brook.
