Driver banned for six months

A WARRA man will be off the road for six months af­ter be­ing caught drink driv­ing.

John Tre­drea pleaded guilty to one charge of driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol in the Dalby Mag­is­trates Court on Tues­day.

The court heard Tre­drea was caught in Ko­gan, re­turn­ing home af­ter drink­ing with friends.

Tre­drea’s de­fence lawyer told the court Tre­drea’s brother was orig­i­nally driv­ing the car.

When Tre­drea be­came ner­vous about his brother’s driv­ing, they swapped and Tre­drea was be­hind the wheel.

The de­fence lawyer claimed in court Tre­drea was driv­ing for two min­utes.

Po­lice pros­e­cu­tion told the court, Tre­drea ad­mit­ted he had con­sumed 12 beers be­fore get­ting be­hind the wheel.

The court heard Tre­drea blew 0.180.

Mag­is­trate Rob­bie Davies said the in­ci­dent was fool­ish.

“You are dan­ger­ous to him (Tre­drea’s brother), dan­ger­ous to your­self and dan­ger­ous to oth­ers,” Mr Davies said.

Tre­drea was banned form driv­ing for six months.
