Events centre gives new place to gather

Dalby Herald - - NEWS -

THE ribbon has been cut to officially open Dalby’s upgraded entertainment precinct.

The new Dalby Events Centre is hoped to be a multi-purpose area used for social and professional functions.

It was opened by Mayor Paul McVeigh and Assistant Minister for Veterans AffairsJennifer Howard.

Cr McVeigh said the new centre paid tribute to Dalby’s history while establishing the region’s future.

Ms Howard said the new building was proudly supported by the State Government.

“The refurbishment of the Dalby Events Centre ensures that the community of Dalby and the Western Downs can continue to celebrate and undertake business in a much loved building for years to come,” Ms Howard said.

“Projects that involve and include local tradespeople and businesses boost the local economy and is one of the many reasons the Queensland Government like to partner with councils.”

More than $1 million worth of grants funded the projects.

Site superintendent Arthur Martin said he was pleased building was done by local businesses.

“This is definitely something our communities can be proud of as it has such a high percentage of local labour and that is what our town is about,” Mr Martin said.
