Hanging out the shingle
Adam Young became an owner-driver 12 months ago, purchasing a 2010 UD 12-pallet rigid and pig trailer. He also works for Border Express as a subbie.
“I thought I would give it a crack and go out on my own and it’s the best thing I ever did. I’ve had the rig just over 12 months. I’ve put new curtains on and other bits and pieces. A bit of bling, it looks the part, and I get a lot of positive comments,” he grins.
Adam can carry 22 pallets and usually does 10-12 deliveries a day – and then does pickups in the evening.
“The runs are worked out very well, and Borders are a great company to subbie for,” he says.
“I’ve just chromed the rims and I am glad that I have as it makes my life so much easier. Everyone comments on them! I think it gives the rig a cleaner, more professional look. They don’t fade, you don’t have to polish them, and I get weekends home with the wife and kids.”
Adam finished cleaning by the time we caught up with him, and he was looking forward to a great weekend with his mates.
