River, red gum represents shire

-

Murray River Council has unveiled its new logo (pictured), which represents the unique environment and culture of the region.

Administrator David Shaw said establishing an easily recognisable visual identity that represents the region and resonates with the community is fundamental to building a strong and cohesive sense of community.

‘‘As part of building the council’s new corporate identity, residents were encouraged to provide feedback on four design concepts,’’ he said.

‘‘Overwhelmingly, our community told us that one option resonated strongest with our residents and best represented the region.’’

The preferred logo was adopted by council on Tuesday.

Mr Shaw said the logo incorporates the essence of the Murray River Council area based on community feedback, combining elements of the Murray River, the red gum leaf with an earthy natural palette.

The logo’s designer described the logo concept as follows:

‘‘It encapsulates the Murray River using the iconic red gum leaf containing the flowing river. The weaving shape of the river is also suggestive of an ‘M’.

‘‘The earthy colour palette is taken from the landscape of the Murray River region and shows a more organic and natural feel.’’

Mr Shaw thanked everyone who helped with the selection process, adding the strong response indicates the community’s interest in the progress being made by Murray River Council.

‘‘Murray River Council is a fresh start for our community,’’ Mr Shaw said.

‘‘It is important for the new council to adopt its own identity and the logo is an important part of this process.

‘‘Over the coming months, I’m confident that our residents will become increasingly familiar with our new logo.

‘‘Our hope is that they embrace it in the same way they have been embracing the region’s future, as one Murray River.’’
