Womboota car, bus crash
District Rural Fire Service volunteers were called to assist following a collision between a car and a bus at Womboota on Boxing Day.
NSW Rural Fire Service Mid Murray Zone community safety officer Doug Adamson said the accident occurred on Perricoota Rd.
He said luckily the impacts of the crash were minimal.
‘‘No one was injured in the incident. Both the NSW Ambulance service and police were on the scene, and we were there to help make sure everyone involved was okay.’’
Three RFS trucks and eight firefighters responded to the call at 10.54am Tuesday.
A defective power line was to blame for two grassfires at Ricemill Rd and Cemetery Rd in Deniliquin last Friday.
Deniliquin NSW Fire and Rescue Captain Martin Smith said two trucks and seven firefighters attended the scene, arriving shortly after 9.30pm.
‘‘We were able to contain both fires to about 50 metres by 100 metres, and the fire took place on grasslands, so there was no major damage to the area,’’ Capt Smith said.
A faulty powerpole fuse started a blaze at the corner of Lawson Syphon Rd and Four Post Rd in Deniliquin on Monday.
Three RFS units, two trucks and 15 firefighters attended the fire shortly after 3.30pm. It burned an area about 200m by 100m before being contained.
