Excitement is building for Deniliquin’s famous Sun Festival, which will start with the traditional Children’s Party on Friday, January 13.

The Sun Festival, which also includes Australia Day celebrations, uses the beautiful Waring Gardens as its base.

The Children’s Party aims to provide entertainment and fun for families and children.

The Great Gizmo will return with his newest, spooky character to tie in with the Friday the 13th date.

There will be a fancy dress competition for those who dress in a ‘spook’ theme and prizes for best dressed children’s bicycles.

The Fusion group will provide free activities such as face painting and minigames, ensuring the little ones are kept entertained.

Rides will also return this year, including the popular merry-go-round and slot cars, all of which are free of charge and fun for all.

Festival chairman Geoff Riley said Darryl’s Farmyard may also return to the festival in 2017, depending on the weather conditions. In the farmyard, children get the opportunity to get up close and personal with chickens, goats, pigs and other animals.

Food and drinks will be provided throughout the day, including a familyfavourite icecream stand to help keep you cool on a hot summer’s day.
