Women’s Day celebration

-

Two quality guest speakers will feature at an International Women’s Day luncheon being hosted by Edward River Council next month.

They are author Jenny Old (pictured) and founder of the Riverina Collective, Hayley Purbrick.

The luncheon will be on Wednesday, March 8 from 10.30am to 3pm at the Deniliquin RSL Club.

Mrs Old, nee Bull and formerly from Deniliquin, wrote a memoir of her time in the Gulf Country of Far North Queensland on the property ‘McAllister’, which is the name of her book.

She returned home in October last year to launch the memoir at the Deniliquin Peppin Heritage Centre.

Ms Purbrick spent time living in Melbourne before deciding to move home to the country to be part of her family’s wine business.

She was one of the instigators of the Women in Water annual event, which started in 2015.

From the event, Ms Purbrick founded the Riverina Collective to ensure the knowledge sharing and networking continued.

There are limited places available at the International Women’s Day luncheon.

Bookings are essential by phoning Edward River Council on 5898 3000 or via email grants@edwardriver.nsw.gov.au.

If there is sufficient demand, buses will run from Conargo, Blighty and Pretty Pine.
