A 21 year-old Deniliquin P-plater received an infringement notice after an alleged incident involving three vehicles on Saturday.

Police were called to a Burton St property in Deniliquin about 3am after a vehicle allegedly hit two parked cars and then left the scene.

The two parked cars received extensive damage, according to police, and were parked in the home’s driveway.

Police patrolled the area and located what they believed to the offending vehicle, which had extensive damage to its front and rear.

A P1 licence holder was spoken to at the scene and issued with an infringement notice.

Pursuit terminated

A silver Commodore Sedan was involved in a short pursuit on the outskirts of Deniliquin on Sunday evening.

Police said they were heading south on the Cobb Hwy, 10km south of Deniliquin about 8.50pm, when they were overtaken by a vehicle travelling at excessive speed.

A short pursuit was initiated by police, however it was terminated due to potential risk to other road users.

Investigations are continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Grader accident

A 64 year-old Deniliquin man was taken to hospital with a split forehead after an alleged incident at a Deniliquin workplace on Wednesday.

Police said the man was operating a roller at a Moonee Swamp Rd business.

According to police, he was being followed by a 62 year-old Deniliquin man, who was driving a grader.

Police said the grader collided with the roller, allegedly causing the older man to hit his head on the steering wheel.

The 64 year-old was transported to Deniliquin Hospital where he received 11 staples and nine stitches in his forehead, police said.

Investigations are continuing.

Police called to calm crowd

Police are investigating an incident which took place outside a Deniliquin business on Saturday.

Police were called to a business in End St about 11.45pm.

On arrival, they found a woman lying on her back on the road, with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Police say there were about 20 other people in the area, most of whom they believed to be intoxicated.

Investigations revealed several assaults had occurred outside the business, and the woman lying on the road was one of the victims. She was taken to Deniliquin Hospital where she received stitches for a small cut on the back of her head.

According to police, it took over an hour to calm the situation and move the intoxicated people from the area. This resulted in a man receiving a criminal infringement notice for offensive language, and another person was charged with failing to move on and resist/hinder police.

Further investigations are being conducted by police.
