Rams netball report:

New combinatio­ns were tested for Deni Rams A grade on the weekend due to a number of player absences.

Early in the game, Deni struggled to find their feet and found it difficult to push through a strong defensive set-up from Numurkah. Deni were down at half time, 13-28.

Deni responded in the second half by making five positional changes.

Full court defensive pressure and composure in attack allowed Deni to find space and create more movement in the circle.

The fourth quarter saw a turn around with Deni refusing to give up bringing the margin back to nine goals.

With brilliant intercepts and defensive work from centre Amelia Seignior, and shooters Leah Blake and Kate McCalman quickly converting, Deni won the quarter 13-7.

Final score, Numurkah 41 to Deni Rams 31.

Awards – Leah Blake, Amelia Seignior, Kate McCalman.

B grade endured another tough match this week. Both teams have a good mix of youth and experience which made for a tight, physical contest across the whole court.

Although Deni led for the entirety of the match, it felt like it was goal for goal.

The Rams’ defensive game worked really well, led strongly by Mel Broadbent and Elle Parsons.

Nat Free was also fantastic. She attacked hard, created beautiful space in the circle, provides great support to Amy Rodda and shot some beautiful goals.

Bridie Howe and Georgia Richards were fantastic this week, and it was a great win to celebrate 150 senior games for mid-courter Maddy Gallagher.

Final score, Deni Rams 47 to Numurkah 37.

C grade couldn’t get up this week playing a strong top-of-the-ladder team.

The Rams worked hard in defence and the mid-court taking regular turnovers.

Meg Erickson stood up well in GK with Alana Raper working solidly in the centre.

Final score, Numurkah 50 to Deni Rams 22.

Numurkah’s C reserve were very strong in all areas. The Rams battled hard all day but were soundly beaten.

Final score, Numurkah 48 to Deni Rams 25.

Awards – Kayla Hussey, Leetisha Hillier, Skye Parks.

The under 17s played their best game yet, applying defensive pressure throughout all four quarters.

Georgia Richards was excellent in de- fence creating many turnovers, making it hard for Numurkah to get goals.

Kate McCalman’s smart footwork facilitate­d many successful goal opportunit­ies.

Final score, Deni Rams 31 to Numurkah 27.

It was another strong win by the Rams under 15s.

Felicity Jefferies, Keely Mitsch, Tessa Bulmer and Georgina Mildren were outstandin­g at the attacking end.

Ella Harvey, Steph Maher and Eloise Ritchie moved the ball up and down the mid-court skilfully while Emma McCallum and Makhaya Mitsch worked tirelessly in defence.

Final score, Deni Rams 53 to Numurkah 31.

Awards – Felicity Jefferies, Makhaya Mitsch, Georgina Mildren.

The Rams’ under 13s struggled initially but found their feet in the third term where they hit the front.

Storm Barlow had a top game on the wing where she secured many crucial possession­s. Hannah Ford had a fantastic game shooting multiple goals in attack and pulling in numerous intercepti­ons in defence.

Macie Free and Holly Amor controlled the mid-court offering plenty of options at both ends of the court.

Final score, Deni Rams 27 to Numurkah 17.

Awards – Storm Barlow, Holly Amor, Hannah Ford.

There was great pressure from all under 12s players.

Mia Parks worked well into the shooting circle and became more confident in putting up her shots, while Grace McMahon moved well in the mid-court.

Dakota Mitsch played a sound game in defence and shut down passes to opposition. All three received awards.

Final score, Deni Rams 29 to Numurkah 13.

The under 11s girls played against a taller team this week.

The Rams held their own in the first quarter and managed to maintain turnovers throughout the match against a strong side.
