Navorina CEO appointed to guide Echuca’s health
Navorina Nursing Home chief executive officer Amanda Shand has been appointed as a director on the Echuca Regional Health Board.
The appointment was made by the Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy, after Mrs Shand applied for the post in February this year.
The board is Echuca Regional Health’s governing body and aims to ensure it is efficiently managed, consistently provides high quality care and service delivery, satisfies the needs of the community and meets various performance targets.
‘‘This position will allow Deniliquin to develop a partnership and relationship with both Echuca Regional Health and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District,’’ Mrs Shand said.
‘‘I’m in aged care and they have a facility here, so we know if there is a waiting list to get in a nursing home in Deniliquin we can contact Echuca.
‘‘It will also allow me to look deeper into cross border issues and the health flow, because if someone has to be transferred from Deniliquin they are sent to Shepparton, Echuca or Melbourne.’’
The position sees Mrs Shand attend monthly board meetings in Echuca.
She has more than 35 years experience in the health industry and over 12 years involvement on various governing boards.
These include the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Yallambee, Riverina Regional Tourism and Loddon Mallee Murray Medicare Local.
