Carpet bowls report:
The grand final of the Deniliquin Indoor Bias Bowls Association winter competition saw Non Blondes take out the title over The Mavericks two weeks ago.
Both teams started well but at the end of the first half, Non Blondes were up by eight shots.
During the second half, The Mavericks had no answer to the excellent bowling by Maureen Wellard’s team and Margaret Chick’s team.
The club also held their singles championship which was won by Jenny Amor, with Pat Hetherington runner-up.
The pairs championship was won by the team of Mary Ryan and Betty Mathews, with Chick pairing up with Irene Braham to be runners-up.
The DIBBA held its annual general meeting for its summer competition on Monday last week.
The office bearers are as follows: President - June Campbell, secretary - Jenny Tonta, treasurer - Sue Buckley, publicity officer - Carol Arthur.
Ten teams have been entered for the competition so far with Swans, Blacks, Eagles, The Family, Eaglets, Phantoms, Demons, Rebels, Scallywags and Nameless set to compete. The competition will start on Wednesday, September 27.
