Gattuso claims Truck of Show
The Truck of the Show award has gone to Shepparton business Frank Gattuso Transport for the second year in a row with Jordan Gattuso, the son of owner Frank, taking home the top award.
Jordan claimed the 2017 Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo’s most coveted trophy with his 1996 Peterbilt, painted in company colours.
Colleague Matthew Clark claimed the 2016 trophy with the company’s Kenworth K108 Bigcab.
Jordan, 19, has been part of the family business for a number of years, and started driving only a few months ago.
‘‘It’s dad’s company, but my truck,’’ he said.
‘‘I’ve been working in the company for five or six years, but only started driving in June this year.
‘‘I’m also in my third year as a diesel mechanic apprentice.’’
Like the other Gattuso trucks, Jordan’s Peterbilt has a number of customised features.
It includes a customised step, tank wraps, guards and visor.
The louvre grill also makes the truck stand out in a crowd, along with the back bar and trim underneath and eight inch pipes.
Inside the cab are other custom features, like the extended gear stick and the work to change the standard wood trip dash to a machine finish look.
‘‘It took a few days to get it ready for the show, so it was good to win,’’ Jordan said.
‘‘I had been cleaning and polishing since Thursday, with some final touches after the drive to Deni Saturday morning before judging.’’
