Fam­ily fun day at park

Lo­cal com­mu­nity groups hosted a fam­ily fun day in De­niliquin on Wed­nes­day.

More than 50 peo­ple en­joyed a free bar­be­cue lunch and ac­tiv­i­ties at Scotts Park, known lo­cally as the ‘ Rocket Park’, in Rus­sell St.

The event was hosted by the De­niliquin Lo­cal Abo­rig­i­nal Land Coun­cil, Abil­ity Links, Yarkuwa In­dige­nous Knowl­edge Cen­tre and In­tereach.

Fea­tur­ing face paint­ing, craft, gi­ant games and fun ac­tiv­i­ties, event co­or­di­na­tor Wendy John­ston said the day was aimed at ‘‘bring­ing peo­ple to­gether’’.

‘‘The fam­ily fun day fo­cused on in­clu­sive so­cial in­ter­ac­tion.’’

The event saw the cre­ation of ‘kind­ness rocks’, a new ini­tia­tive where chil­dren dec­o­rate stones and peb­bles with pos­i­tive notes to be scat­tered around De­niliquin.
