Rope cut, boat miss­ing from Mur­ray

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the sus­pected theft of a boat from Pic­nic Point at Mathoura overnight Fri­day.

It was launched on the Mur­ray River on Fri­day night and teth­ered with a rope. When the owner re­turned Satur­day morn­ing the boat was miss­ing.

Po­lice said it ap­peared the rope had been de­lib­er­ately cut.

The miss­ing boat is a white 3.8m Quin­trex with a 25 horse­power out­board mo­tor and reg­is­tra­tion num­ber PQ686.

A 44 year-old De­niliquin man is ex­pected to ap­pear in lo­cal court next month to face a drink driv­ing charge.

Po­lice al­lege the man recorded a blood al­co­hol read­ing of 0.123 af­ter ini­tially re­turn­ing a pos­i­tive road­side breath test in Rus­sell St, De­niliquin about 12.40am on Satur­day.

The driver was sub­se­quently charged with mid range pre­scribed con­tent of al­co­hol.
