Garden wedding

Deniliquin Pastoral Times - - OUT & ABOUT -

Conargo couple Julie Simpson and Ian Mason chose their favourite spot in Deniliquin’s Waring Gardens as the backdrop for their nuptials on Saturday afternoon.

The couple were married under the large palm trees on the eastern side of the gardens, with the ceremony officiated by their friend and Deniliquin Salvation Army Captain Sandra Walmsley.

Julie arrived in Steve Beckwith’s red convertible Dodge Polara wearing a white gown with a white lace bodice, long lace sleeves and long skirt. She paired the dress with a three-quarter length veil with silver leaves and flower crown, and carried a tear drop shaped bouquet of purple and cream lilies.

Julie, the daughter of Margaret Williams of Sebastopol, was walked down the aisle by her brother Rodney Williams.

Julie’s bridesmaids — daughter Brook Simpson and Vanessa and Katrina Jones — wore long flowing purple gowns, with a lace-up back. They wore matching flower garlands on their heads.

The bridesmaids also made their entrance in vintage cars — a bright yellow Chevrolet Bel Air and a bright orange HJ Holden wagon.

Flowergirls were Olivia and Bethany Larcombe.

Ian is the son of Eileen and Ray (dec.) Mason of Deniliquin. He was attended by his brother Geoff Mason as best man, and Pat Stenhouse and Warwick Walmsley as groomsmen.

The men wore matching grey suits with purple ties to match the bridesmaids.

Following the ceremony, the couple were joined by family and friends for a reception at the Deniliquin RSL Sports Complex. They spent a week in Melbourne for their honeymoon.
