Shots fired at Deni home
West Deniliquin home shot at twice early Sunday
Two shots were fired through the front window of a Deniliquin home on Sunday, according to police.
The shots were heard by a neighbour about 1.10am, who reported the incident when police conducted a door knock through the area on Sunday afternoon.
Police have confirmed no-one was inside the Russell St home when the shots were fired.
The neighbour who reported the sounds of gunfire to police said the home which was the target of gunfire was less than a block away from her own home.
She said the shots seemed even closer when she heard them.
‘‘I was at home on my own and about to doze off when I heard the first shot,’’ the woman said.
‘‘Within about 10 seconds there was another one and that’s when I looked at the phone to check the time.’’
The neighbour said she was unsure at first whether to contact police about the incident, and sought feedback from other people living in the same area, asking whether they had heard anything.
‘‘It wasn’t until police came knocking on my door that I remembered to let them know what I had heard,’’ she said.
Following confirmation of shots being fired, detectives and crime scene investigators were notified and attended the scene.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify who was involved in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deniliquin detectives on 5881 9299, or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Calls to CrimeStoppers can remain anonymous.
