Workshops to focus on beef farming

-

Upcoming drought workshops in Mathoura and Tocumwal will focus on beef farming in the region.

The workshops, organised by Murray Local Land Services, will tackle topics such as decision making, livestock nutrition and animal health.

Agriculture team leader Tom McIntosh said the workshops, running next week, were being held in response to demand from customers.

‘‘It’s still very dry across our region, and with summer coming up, we felt it was important to give producers the opportunity to hear experts providing advice and strategies to help get them through,’’ he said.

‘‘While the workshops have had a general focus on stock, the Mathoura and Tocumwal workshops will concentrate on the beef producers of those areas.’’

Similar events have been held in Wakool, Coreen, Moulamein, Deniliquin, Jerilderie, Walbundrie, Holbrook and Tooma over the past six weeks.

‘‘I would encourage all beef producers in these areas to take the time to come along to what will be some very valuable workshops,’’ Mr McIntosh said.
