There is grow­ing ev­i­dence that seden­tary be­hav­iours – such as sit­ting in the of­fice or on the couch – are linked to di­a­betes, heart dis­ease, obe­sity and other chronic con­di­tions. A new study from the Uni­ver­sity of Glas­gow, pub­lished in BMC Medicine, found for ev­ery two hours sit­ting, the risk of dy­ing from any cause is two times greater in peo­ple with lower grip strength than those with a higher grip.
