Balancing with daylight

Digital Camera World - - SHOOTOUT -

Your key aim whenever you mix natural light and flash is to set the exposure for the daylight first, using Manual mode so that the settings stay locked in on the camera. Exposing for the bright sunlight means that a backlit model will be underexposed, so then it’s a case of switching on the strobe(s) and adjusting the power and distance of the flash heads in order to illuminate the model.
