Digital Camera World - - SHOOTOUT -

RATHER than wandering and keeping an eye out for interestinglooking people, Louise went on the hunt for an interesting backdrop

instead. “The lines here attracted my eye,” she explains. “I plodded up hoping I would get lucky when these two ladies rushed past, giggling in the rain. I was drawn to their matching jackets and happy disposition. I’m getting braver than I was, so I asked if I could photograph them. Happily they said yes! I’d already stolen a few shots but I wanted to play a little more.

“It was damp and overcast, so I knew the light would be fairly even – but it was a busy spot, and I had to work quickly to avoid the footfall for a clean shot. I framed the shot this way because I like order and negative space. While I appreciate compositional rules such as the rule of thirds, I like to find my own way too.”
