USING THE SPOT HEALING BRUSH

The Spot Healing Brush tool is very effective at removing small marks and blemishes. Dab or paint over an area and the tool will analyse the surrounding pixels, then decide which parts you’d like to fix. It’s most effective when removing obtrusive marks over otherwise smooth areas, so it’s perfect for tidying up skin by hiding spots, lines and marks. By setting the tool to Sample All Layers in the Options Bar, you can create a new empty layer, then sample from the Background layer, thereby preserving your original image. You can use the Clone Stamp tool to smooth and soften skin in the same way. Make a new layer for cloning, then set Sample: All Layers and set Opacity to 20%. Hold Alt to sample an area nearby and paint to soften the skin.
