Manually focus on the moon, using Live View to check that the area is pin-sharp.
Research your animals to find out when and where they’re likely to appear. Brush up on fieldcraft so you don’t scare them away.
Set your tripod up at a low angle, then point up to capture the moon behind the subject.
Top tip: Shoot two images and combine them: one to expose the moon and another for the animal.
