What fun to be asked to ‘guest edit’ this issue! Humans have always wanted to honour the landscape and be as near to it as possible. There’s a primal need to get close to the land. Photographers, painters and poets just cannot seem to let it go: it’s as if they’ve got to bring their emotional experience of the land to life. There’s a burning compulsion to say: “I find this experience wonderful, and I need to evoke it”. The camera is a conduit to all those things.
Choosing 25 landscape locations was a challenge, so I thought of places where I feel I’ve come away a better human being, enriched by having been blessed by the experience of that part of the world. The process of discovery is so illuminating and uplifting, and I’m so grateful to have experienced such amazing beauty. I hope you enjoy my selection...
