Why use a fast shut­ter speed?

To keep your dancer sharp in the frame, se­lect a fast enough shut­ter speed. If your sub­ject is jump­ing, a set­ting of 1/500 sec or faster is nec­es­sary. If you want to ex­per­i­ment with move­ment in the frame, though, re­fer to our handy guide above. You want to get the right amount of move­ment, oth­er­wise your sub­ject may just look slightly blurry, which is not ef­fec­tive.
