BACK BUTT ON AF

Get the best of both worlds

Digital Camera World - - CAMERA COLLEGE -

With continuous AF, the focus is never locked. But setting up your camera for back-button focusing, where autofocus is separate from the shutter release button, means you can effectively lock the focus position by taking your finger off the rear button. This allows you to take a sharp shot if the subject stops moving, but start focusing again once the action starts.
