MEN I N THE ALPS: Best Of 2008 To 2014

DNA Magazine - - BOOK REVIEWS -

This is a retrospective of a famous European calendar that raised over 120,000 euros for HIV charities. The proceeds from this book will also be donated. The calendar project has now come to an end and wasn’t distributed in Australia so this book provides the opportunity to admire the men who were featured. Many of the models came from South Tyrol and Italy but also from other European countries such as Slovakia, Germany, Poland, Russia and Turkey. Typically they were posed against alpine backgrounds or in amusing situations while semi-clad in traditional European costumes such as lederhosen. In addition to the photographs, there is also an interview with creators Peter Viehweider (photographer) and Gerhard Zanetti (artistic director), providing all the backstory and interesting gossip behind the project.
