HALLOWEEN, L.A. STYLE
Gay ghouls don’t get much sexier than this! By James Franklin.
The Halloweenie party is the brainchild of partners Fred Arens and Jason Duguay. For the last 12 years the fun and sexy fundraising event has supported the L.A. LGBT Center and their outreach programs including the Alive Music Project and the It Gets Better Tour of The Gay Men’s Chorus.
The party started humbly in the couple’s own home and had since been staged at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, on the sound stage of True Blood, and under the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center. Fred and Jason estimate that the party has raised close to 2 million dollars.
In real life, Jason is a 6th Grade school teacher and Fred owns a prop house that rents furniture to television and film production companies. This year, Halloweenie will be hosted at The Belasco Theater, one of L.A.’s oldest. If you plan on going, better get that costume happening and the body in tip-top shape!
